Designed for Brisbane

Originating from a formula first established in Berlin, the green factor concept has been adopted to improve urban green spaces across Brisbane.

As the city grows, there’s an opportunity to protect and enhance Brisbane’s vegetation, biodiversity and subtropical lifestyle through urban development.

Brisbane Green Factor provides a user-friendly, innovative way to capture and measure the quantity and quality of green infrastructure on development sites across the city.

The tool is available for all Brisbane residents to use. However, we recommend having a certain level of understanding and familiarity with green infrastructure before using the tool.

Why Council is using Brisbane Green Factor

Brisbane Green Factor helps Council and the development industry balance the growing need for housing with the creation of high-quality urban landscaping.

Although using the tool is voluntary, there’s an opportunity to incorporate more green infrastructure as the city grows.

Utilising the tool within the urban development process can help to improve green space, restore biodiversity and address increasingly urgent issues such as stormwater quality.

There's also an opportunity to enhance Brisbane’s identity as a green, subtropical city.
